Assam Rifles recovers drug worth Rs 28 crore during raid at Indo-Myanmar border

Yet in another big haul of contraband drugs in Manipur, Assam Rifles recovered contraband drugs worth around Rs 28 crore in the international market during a raid at a house in a village at the Indo-Myanmar border on Saturday.

 

The raid was conducted at a house located under Moreh police station of Tengnoupal district, around noon, an official source said.

 

The raid conducted by personnel of Ex-COB (Company Operating Bases) of Assam Rifles deploying at the Indo-Myanmar border recovered the huge quantity contraband drugs.

 

Women personnel of the Moreh police station assisted the security force in the raid which was conducted based on specific input, the official source here said.

 

The seized contraband items include 504000 pieces of WY tablet, 15.269 kg of Crystal Ice Myth, 2.206 kg of Ketamine, 194 bottles of Phensedyl (banned cough syrup), the source said.

 

Indian currency notes amounting to Rs 74150 and Burmese note of 49000 Kyats were also recovered during the raid at the house, conducted following detection of two packets of suspected WY tablet.

 

The source also said that the Ex-COB team comprising the women personnel of Moreh police raided the house after the Ex-COB team initially recovered the two packets of suspected WY tablet from the house.

 

The raid that followed the recovery led to the recovery of the huge quantity of contraband items hidden inside wooden walls of the house.

 

On questioning the owner of the house, she revealed that the drugs belong to two women from Myanmar’s Tamu town.

 

The security force apprehended the owner of the house for further necessary action, the source quoting the Assam Rifles authority said.
