Atharva Foundation felicitates martyr families

Kohima, October 5 (MExN): A three member team of Atharva Foundation is on tour to Kohima to felicitate martyr families of Armed Forces and Assam Rifles. The team arrived on October 3 and was received by Director, Rajya Sainik Board Nagaland.  

Col C Konwer, PRO (Defence) in a press release stated that Atharva Foundation is an initiative of Atharva Educational Trust which is the brain child of Sunil Rane. The foundation has made a mark in education and supports various segments of the society such as girl child education, social services, medical camps and felicitations of martyr families of Armed Forces, it added. Their programme seeks to raise awareness among the youth about the Armed forces and their supreme sacrifices.  

Sunil Rane, along with Colonel Sudhir Raje (Retd) and Atharva Foundation’s team from Mumbai are currently visiting martyr families in Guwahati, Imphal, Kohima and Dimapur to know the sacrifices made by the martyrs for our nation, the lives led by their families post their loss.  

The team at Kohima on October 4 visited Captain Kenguruse memorial at Nerhema village and interacted with the family of late Captain N Kenguruse and laid wreaths on behalf of their institution. The heroic deeds and martyrdom of late Captain Kenguruse, MVC during Operation Vijay in 1999 is a folklore in Nagaland. The team also paid their respects to Ramawati Devi, wife of late Hav L K Sinha of 3 Assam Rifles. Late Hav Sinha attained martyrdom in Operation HIFAZAT in 2000. The team also called on Major General PC Nair, YSM, IGAR(N) in Kohima during their stay.
