Case Premier League Season 2 from Sept 16

Morung Express News Dimapur | August 19   The Second Edition of the Case Premier League – an unregistered football league for non professionals above 30 years – will start on September 16. This was announced during a press briefing at the Conference Hall in Unity College, Dimapur on Saturday.   Having garnered a lot of interests from individuals and groups alike following the inaugural edition, the organisers informed that it is opening up slots for three more teams to participate in the second edition.   In this regard, the organisers issued an open invite to interested teams willing to participate in the league. A limited number of forms will be made available and interested teams have been asked to collect the forms from Unity College.   The last date for submission of forms along with list of players is August 26. Teams will need to provide Identity Cards of the players (Driving license/PAN Card/Aadhaar Card/HSLC certificate showing proof of age) along with two passport-sized photographs. Players above the age of 30 should be born on or before December 31, 1987.   Interestingly though, the league allows for two under-30 players from each team to be part of a matchday squad but even these players have to be above the age of 25 (born on or before December 31, 1992). Teams can have a maximum squad of 30 players with four under-30 players.   No active professional footballers will be allowed, Nchum Ovung, Member, Organising Committee, informed while adding that the player list of each team would be scrutinized by the technical team. Following the scrutiny, the selected teams will have to pay Rs. 7000 as registration fee for the league.   Although meant for non-professionals, teams will however compete under regulations and guidelines at par with FIFA rules with certified referees, linesmen and match commissioners officiating in the matches.   While the prize money for the tournament was not announced, member of the Organizing Committee, Jamong Ao stressed that they did not want to “commercialize” the league but added that there would definitely be “attractive prizes”.   The inaugural edition of the Case Premier League was held earlier this year from February to April under the theme “Beyond Friendship, Beyond Fitness and Beyond Football”.   “What started out as a friendly fixture between friends for leisure and fitness has now given way to a more competitive spirit amongst friends as more people joined in,” a handout from the organisers read.   “We have also gone on to play an exhibition match with the Morning Premier League in Kohima,” Rovikotuo Yhoshu, Convenor of the Organising Committee said while expressing hope that the Case Premier League could, in future, possibly play against other leagues in Kohima and even elsewhere.   Five teams competed in the first edition viz., Case FC, Nizams FC, STAFAC Patkai, Team HHH and Trinity Sporting. The two-month long league went down to the wire as Trinity Sporting emerged champions edging Team HHH on points.   Area Manager of Case Constructions, Pankaj Baruah and Sales Executive Ako Zhotso were also present at the press conference.   Interested teams may contact 9402489728 / 9862563957 / 8575206279.
