CBCMH Kohima conducts special prayer

Kohima, February 10 (MExN): In line with the Nagaland Joint Christian Forum’s (NJCF) call for a special prayer in churches across the state, the Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers' Hill, (CBCMH) Kohima on February 10 during its Sunday devotional service held a special prayer.

A press release mentioned that the NJCF directed all churches of various denominations in Nagaland to pray for the early Naga political solution and the unrest created by the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), 2016.

Reverend Dr Vevo Phesao, Senior Pastor of CBCMH, who led the congregation in prayer, said that 21 years of negotiation for the Indo-Naga political situation proved futile. Despite efforts of negotiators, groups and leaders, solution have been kept on hold, Dr Phesao said, observing that Government of India on its part was apparently "cheating" the negotiators and the Nagas as a whole.

The senior Pastor said that it was high time that the public became aware of such tactics being played toward the Nagas. According to Dr Phesao, "vested interest attitude" of few individuals, tribalism, and nepotism were the "biggest stumbling block" to achievement of Naga political situation.
Further stating that the Bill is the biggest threat to the Northeastern states, Dr Phesao urged the people to voice out against the bill. Once the bill is passed, “our future generation will become minority,” he added.
