Clean Election: Ao pastors join campaign

Mokokchung, April 26 (MExN): The Ao Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (ABPF) has come out with a strong statement on cleaning the electioneering system in the state and also against the continued spate of discrimination and atrocities committed against the Christians in the country. The resolutions were made known in a statement released to the media by the Ao pastors that was made during their fellowship from April 21 to 23 last at Kumlong Baptist Arogo, Mokokchung Town.

The pastor’s fellowship in their 5 point resolution firstly resolved to have a chain of prayer in all the churches for cleaner elections in the state and also to uphold in prayer the continued discrimination and atrocities against ‘believers’ in the country to be culminated with a day of fasting and prayer.

The fellowship of Ao pastors also categorically denounced the selection of village and citizen’s forum candidates during elections as it undermines the rights of the citizens and therefore leads to corrupt practices during elections. It further resolved that the fellowship will not vote/ support any group/party that persecutes Christians.

The pastors also resolved to compose a theme song for Clean Elections that will be sung in all the churches.

In the fifth resolution, the pastors decided to write to the President of India on the discrimination and atrocities against Christians in the country.
