The Green Conservers of Kiphire today organize a tree plantation drive cum social work in and around the town under the theme ‘clean, green for change’ where more than 40 youths took part in the drive.
Speaking at the programme before the plantation drive, Green Conservers, advisor, Yangseo Sangtam highlighted the importance of the day and shared on the history of the World Environment Day.
He stressed on the importance of forest and its resources and asked the youngsters to plant trees to balance the nature that we have destroyed. He said that good air, pure water and fresh environment we enjoy are the byproduct of healthy environment and asked the youngsters to take good care of the environment. Later, he planted the tree marking the launching of the plantation drive.
Variety of decorative tree saplings provided by the Land Resources Department and some Pine saplings from Forest Range Office were planted during the drive.
