CSS employees’ salary issue - Appeal to the new Chief Minister

Renbemo L Patton
Former President (NRMSATA-16)

First of all, the Nagaland RMSA Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA) Central Body applauds you on having been conferred to the most prestigious chair in the State. I take this honor on behalf of all the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) employees to put forth the following few lines to your kind notice. Sir, the salary issue of the CSS employees, viz. SSA, RMSA, Hindi teachers etc. has been drawing to news dailies intermittently, which blatantly speaks about the negligent attitude of the State government. Associations have been raising our voice time and again so far as regular payment of salary is concerned, but of no avail? As you know, it is not the least encouraging to always engross ourselves in paper wars at regular interval. It is a new year, a new academic session and a new government as well; therefore, from the early start let us try not to whistle past on someone’s graveyard and spoil the whole show of the year. Allow the teaching community to have a joyful & prosperous new year by answering this specific issue (salary) once and for all.

To “call a spade a spade” various measures and policies have been adopted in order to improve the teaching learning process, but until and unless the salary problem has its final solution in the first place, there is less chance that the government run institute will bear much fruit as anticipated. To speak our minds, we are seriously fed up of requesting and demanding for salary. As Napoleon Bonaparte once said “An army marches on its stomach”. Similarly, any group of workers can only fight or function effectively if they have been well fed. Only then the teachers will whole heartedly dedicate themselves in facilitating the career of the students without any reserve or disturbances. The NRMSATA has full faith that your wise and magnanimous sensible thought will soon find an early solution to our problems without any further delay under your dynamic leadership.

We hope and pray that your party manifesto commitments about “teachers’ welfare and protection” exist both in letter and spirit.
