DDBA to host 1st Victor North-East Masters Badminton Championship

Dimapur, April 20 (MExN): The 1st Victor North-East Masters (Veteran Men’s) Badminton Championship – a mega badminton tournament – hosted by the Dimapur District Badminton Association (DDBA) under the banner of Nagaland Badminton Association will held from May 4-6 at Dimapur.   The DDBA in a press release stated that the aim of the tournament is to develop friendship through the game of badminton among the North-Eastern states by coming together in a common platform.   The tournament will be conducted at two venues – Dimapur District Badminton Indoor stadium, United Colony, Nagarjan and Kuda Youth Badminton Indoor stadium, Kuda village, Nagarjan. The tournament will also feature a musical extravaganza on the closing day.   The event will be held under seven categories (only doubles) i.e., 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+ and open category where minimum combined age should not be less than 95 years. In this regard, the association has stated that all players will have to bring valid identity cards showing proof of age.   A minimum of seven entries are required to conduct the event. A player can participate in two categories only. The entry fee will be Rs. 1000 per pair and the last date of submission of entries is May 1. The drawing of fixture will be conducted on May 2.   Sponsored by Victor, the prize money for the winners, runners-up and semifinalists will be Rs. 20,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 4000 respectively. Winners will also receive gift hampers from the tournament sponsor.   For Nagaland, the names of the participants have to be routed through their respective district badminton association.
