Dengue cases increases to 116

Morung Express News Dimapur | November 25   The number of Dengue cases has risen to 116. This was out of 657 suspected blood samples tested at the Sentinel Surveillance Site Lab, District Hospital, Dimapur since the beginning of October till November 22. It also includes two positive cases from Mokokchung, which originated from Dimapur.  Dr Moa Jamir, Dimapur District Programme Officer, NVBDCP, informed on November 25 that 10 new positive cases were detected on November 22 out of 83 suspected blood samples tested. As new cases continue to be detected, he however maintained that Dengue cases are seeing a declining trend.  The decline in incidence on the other hand has been attributed more to natural factors than professional intervention. The unexpected chilly weather condition that Dimapur experienced as November entered the second week likely played a vital role in controlling Dengue-carrying mosquitoes. Medical professionals in Dimapur quoting entomological research stated that mosquito outbreak decline during the winter.
