Kohima, December 19 (MExN): The Department of Information & Public Relations (IPR) and Directorate of Health & Family Welfare celebrated pre-Christmas in Kohima on December 18 and 19 respectively.
Held at the IPR Citadel, Kohima, the event of IPR was graced by its Secretary Lithrongla G Chishi, while Rev. Dr. Tseibu Rutsa delivered the Christmas message.
Meanwhile, Director of IPR, Limawati Ao in his greetings highlighted the achievements of the Department and said that by God’s grace 2017 has been an eventful year. Christmas, he reminded, is a time to rejoice and share love with family and friends while also counting one’s blessings.
Lithrongla in her exhortation said that Christmas is about giving, sharing, love and joy. “We should have a spirit of love not only during Christmas but throughout the year,” she exhorted. The Secretary called upon the gathering to let Christ be born in their hearts everyday and let 2018 be a year to commit oneself as a Christian and be a channel of peace, love and help the needy. Stating that work is worship, she further said as a Christian one should try to be better government employee.
Rev. Dr. Tseibu Rutsa in his message also urged all the officers and staff to be sincere and dedicated in their official assignments and work with renewed vigour. He said that Christmas is a reason/time to forgive one another and show one’s care and love for “our” near and dear ones in Christ. Christmas is confined not only to merry making but it means the repentance of our past iniquities, he viewed. “The best gift to our parents during Christmas season is to accept Jesus Christ as our personal savior and live in His righteousness,” he added.
Registrar, IPR, Wati Atsongchanger called upon the gathering to commit oneself to God while celebrating Christmas. Other highlights of the programme included an inter-section choral competition, which was followed by entertainment session, karaoke, bonfire and Christmas feast.
The Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DHFW), Kohima had its pre-Christmas celebration on December 19 at the office premise. Chaired by Metevinuo Sakhrie, Joint Director NSACS, Dr. Puse Leigise, Deputy Director, DHFW did scripture reading and prayer followed by Christmas carols. The Principal Director, DHFW Dr. N Bendangyanger Jamir extended Christmas greetings to the gathering which was followed by special numbers presented by various sections of the department.
Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu, pastor, Ebenezer Church delivered the Christmas message and exhorted everyone present to have a Christ filled Christmas and to have love in the heart all throughout the year. The programme concluded with a benediction pronounced by Dr. Vikeyie Losu, Additional Director, DHFW.
