Dimapur Expo attracts global traders

After the torrential monsoon rains, the ongoing 1st International Dimapur Trade Expo at Naga Shopping Arcade is picking up tempo with visitors and shoppers thronging the expo venue in larger numbers.   For both the compulsive and window shoppers, the expo provides a wide range of products from different states on India as well as from neighbouring countries including South Korea, Thailand and Pakistan.  

Products up for sale in the 40-odd stalls set up at the expo include kitchenware and tools from Delhi, antique furniture and décor from Sharanpur, UP, the famed Hyderabad pearl jewellery, futuristic sofa-cum-bed from Delhi, magic steamer from Delhi, gym and fitness equipments from Mumbai, mouth watering pickles (achar) from Kolkata, ayurvedic medicines and herbal products from Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, leather goods from Delhi, copper utensils from UP and toys from Kolkota.

Finely crafted and designed jewelry from South Korea and Thailand and marble showpieces from Pakistan are added attractions of the mela, which commenced from August 24 and will continue till September12.  

The expo is organized by Vitho Society, a registered society from Kohima, which had earlier successfully organized a similar trade expo in Kohima last Christmas season.  

President of Vitho Society, Kelhouzienguü Mechülho, told a section of visiting media persons that the expo is being organised to encourage its members who are school drop-outs and students, to venture into business enterprises rather than sit idle or seek government jobs only.  

She also informed that after Dimapur, the expo would shift to Phek town (tentative from September 28 to October 15).
