Domokhia village renamed

Established in 1968 under the name, “Domokhia village,” and recognized by the state government in 1996, the village was officially renamed as “Ekhyo Yan” (Victory Village) on May 5, 2016 and a board displaying the new name was unveiled by EAC Chumukedima, Thungbemo Patton on Saturday.  

Speaking on the occasion, Thungbemo emphasized on the need for positivity among members of the village to work together towards making a new beginning for the village.

“Let us focus on the goodness of others. Let us start praising our elders, neighbours and friends. Let’s start praising each other,” he urged.  

Short speeches were delivered by village elder and founding member, N Odyuo, Secretary, Sericulture Department, CM Tsanglao, and executive member steering committee, NSCN (IM), M. Kikon. The speakers reminisced about the history of the village, major events and struggles faced by the founding members.
