Food businesses directed to adhere to FSSA norms

Peren, December 14 (MExN): Food businesses in Peren have been directed to adhere to Food Safety & Standards Act 2006.

“Offences of the food business operators in future will attract penalties in accordance to section 50 & 59 of the food safety & standards Act 2006,” a press release from the Chief Medical Officer Peren stated.

The CMO Peren informed that its food safety wing led by the Food Safety Officer & Sanitary Inspector and assisted by five Dobashis from administration and five youth representatives inspected food businesses in Peren Town on November 28 and 29 and seized a huge amount of food items sold beyond the “best before” dates which are considered unfit for human consumption.

Such practices are in violation of the food safety standards, the CMO asserted and informed all the food businesses under Peren district who have not yet registered or renewed under FSSAI to get the same done from the office of the CMO Peren.

The seized items were later destroyed on December 8, the CMO Peren informed.
