Free Family Health Mela held

Kohima, July 19 (MExN): The Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Siekhazou, Kohima and Reproductive Health & Family Planning Clinic (RHFPC) FPA India under the aegis of the Office of Chief Medical Officer, Kohima and the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare Nagaland organised a Free Family Health Mela today as part of the Population Stabilization Forthnight which begins from World Population Day observed annually on July 11.  

The mega Health Mela was supported by different health programs under the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima like the MOBILE Health Unit, Mylan Project of NNP+, Mobile ICTC, Malaria unit, and nursing trainees from NHAK Including Youth Volunteers of FPA India.   Dr. Aomeren Longkumer- MO-Urban PHC kohima, Dr. Yarenthung Jami, Gynae, CHC Chiephobozou, and Dr. Thejavinuo Keditsu, Gynae (PHC Zhadima) provided OPD services to the patients. Besides free check-up, free medicines and other laboratory tests were also made available on the occasion.  

Altogether, 112 people availed the free health services. Free Laparoscopic tubectomy and other family planning methods were also given to women seeking to avail contraception at the nearby RHFPC of FPA India at Daklane, Kohima.  

Earlier in the morning, braving the inclement weather the program was graced by the presence of Dr. Limaakum Jamir, Mission Director, NHM and Dr. Avinuo Metha, CMO Kohima. Moko Koza – a budding new rap artist from Kohima who is making a buzz in social media – also presented specials songs on the occasion including his originals Never give up and One day.  

Other highlights of the free family health Mela includes: ‘I Decide’ campaign by Youth Volunteers, focus group discussions and IEC display and impromptu quiz competition on health and family planning.
