Friendship Car Rally continues from Imphal

Newmai News Network Imphal | November 23   Manipur Chief of Minister Okram Ibobi Singh today flagged off the Imphal leg of India-Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Car Rally from Hotel Classic Gande, Imphal.   Wishing the participants of the rally a happy and safe journey, the Manipur CM expressed that such a car rally would definitely help strengthen relationship between India and the South East Asian countries.   He also said that this rally would give a wide range of experience while travelling from Delhi to Moreh via Imphal and then up to the final destination Bangkok, Thailand through Myanmar.   Ibobi thanked the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of DoNOR and other ministries of Government of India for supporting the rally.   It may be mentioned that the IMT Friendship Motor Car Rally is piloted by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways with the active support from the Ministry of External Affairs/DoNOR, Tourism/Petroleum and Natural gas, Government of India.   The rally is being organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Kolkata and Kanglinga Motors Sports Club (KMSC), Odissa. It was flagged from New Delhi in November 13, 2016 which will conclude in Bangkok on December 3, 2016 passing enroute through Myanmar covering a distance of 5722 kms.   The rally comprising of 76 members reached Imphal yesterday. It crossed Moreh, India this afternoon and then enroute to Bangkok will cross Tamu-Kale-Mandalay-Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon-Thaton-Mayawaddy in Myanmar-Maesot (Thailand).   The car rally is being organised with the primary objective to promote regional cooperation and connectivity and fostering social and economic integrity among the three countries.
