Leading Northeast retail chain Sohum Shoppe marks its entry into Nagaland

Opens its 7th store in Dimapur

Sohum Shoppe, considered to be one of the Northeast region’s leading shopping destinations, officially entered into Nagaland with the opening of its first store in Dimapur at Supply colony road, opposite to West Police Station on May 10. The opening ceremony was attended by special guest, Thepfulhouvi Solo, retired IFS along with Chairman Manohar Lal Jalan, Managing Directors Sandeep Jalan and Siddharth Jalan, and KK Angami. 
 

This will be the seventh store for the retail company who has already opened several stores in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Headquartered in Guwahati, Assam Sohum provides a wide range of the trendiest apparel& footwear, beauty products, watches & accessories, handbags, luggage, jewelry, toys and home décor. 

According to Siddharth Jalan,the store will feature a wide range of leading International and Indian brands for customers to choose from. Spread over an area of 2000 sq ft and located in an ideal part of the city, the store has three floors with the first floor acting as the main lobby for payment processing. The second floor houses mens’ wear while the third floor has a womens’ and kids’ section. 

“We have employed about 120 locals for this store, which is a way of boosting the employment rate of the state,” he revealed. 

Explaining as to why the company chose to make its presence in Nagaland, Jalan said based on customer profile, it was revealed that about 10% of all customers shopping at their store in Guwahati were from the State. Additionally, he mentioned that as people of the state had a good fashionable outlook, with a love for dressing in the best casual and formal wear, the company decided to open its store here.

Jalan mentioned that since the opening of its first store in Guwahati, the company has expanded into several other locations such as Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Tezpur and Naharlagun. For future expansions, they were also in the process of opening a store in Shillong, Meghalaya as well.    

During the opening ceremony, T Solo expressed his appreciation to the company for choosing to set up a store in Dimapur. He mentioned that although people have had apprehensions about doing business in the city due to the notoriety of being one festered with multiple-taxation, “they need not fear.” “This is a great day for all of us and especially for the family,” he said.
