Full central share of Rs 171.10 Cr released for Nagaland Med College

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey has informed that the central government has released the full central share of Rs 171.10 Crores towards establishment of a medical college at Naga Hospital, Kohima in Nagaland. 


The Union Minister said this in reply to questions raised by the Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) from Nagaland, Tokheho Yepthomi on the floor of the house during the ongoing winter session of Parliament on November 22. 


The MP had asked about the amount of fund released by the Central Government for the project till October, 2019. He had also queried about the current status of the said college and the time by which it is likely to become functional. 


The Union Minister informed that the Nagaland State Government has reported progress of 16.50% on work towards establishment of the college in the Ministry’s dashboard. 


The total cost of the project is Rs.189 Crores, to be shared between the Centre and State Government in the ratio of 90:10, he added. 


The Union Minister stated that the Nagaland Government has been requested to expedite the completion of the college.
