Kohima, March 21 (MExN): The Longding Battalion and Changlang Battalion under the aegis of DAO division apprehended one GPRN/NSCN and two NSCN (R) cadres in Arunachal Pradesh’s Zedua village and Changlang Town respectively on March 20.
The Longding Battalion apprehended Khampai Wangsu of GPRN/NSCN with a pistol and live ammunition, Col C Konwer, PRO (Defence) said in a press release. The release added that Khampai admitted allegiance to GPRN/NSCN and further divulged he has been an active part of the group since October 2001 and received extensive weapons training for six months at its training camp in Nagaland.
Meanwhile, Kampong and Longkam Tunghang of NSCN (R) were apprehended by the Changlang Battalion. Kampong, according to the PRO, revealed he was previously in NSCN (K) and defected to NSCN (R) in June 2015 and has been acting as its Revenue Secretary (Industries). Further, Longkam Tunghang confessed to joining the group in August 2016 and receiving extensive weapons training for three months at NSCN(R) training camp in Nagaland, the release added. “The duo was responsible for extortion activities in Changlang,” it alleged.
