Will this year’s attendance at the Hornbill Festival be the highest ever yet? The question is keeping the Nagaland tourism officials alert as they check the daily log register.

The 9th day of the Festival had the highest turnout so far this year with 50,029 visitors registering at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, the epicenter of Hornbill Festival.

Out of the 50,029 visitors, 289 were international tourists, 6211 domestic tourists, and 43,529 local visitors from Nagaland, according to Toka E Tuccumi, Tourist Officer, statistical-in-charge.

As per the daily visitors statistic, the 1st day registered 12,200 visitors, 2nd day- 18,346, 3rd day- 42,544, 4th day- 11,455, 5th day- 11,893, 6th day- 9646, 7th day- 9430, 8th day- 11,197.

With record attendees on Saturday, the overall visitors now stand at 1,76,740 persons.

Though, it is still long way from record total of 2,43,113 registered in 2015, this year’s edition has already broken the foreign and domestic tourists arrival.

So far, 26,645 domestic and 2272 international tourists have visited the Naga Heritage Village at Kisama. The highest foreign tourists’ arrival was 1646 last year and highest domestic tourists’ attendance was 19,690 in 2015.

The overall turnout is also declining since last year as many events were shifted to Dimapur and other districts.

The festival will conclude on December 10. Among other highlights, the grand finale will be marked by bonfire lighting and unity dance by cultural troupes.
