The second day of GLOCAL 2018 Hornbill International Film Festival was held at Bamboo hall Kisama heritage village on 9th December 2018.
The film festival is presented by the Eastern Art Council and supported by the Department of Tourism and Department of Information & Public Relations, Portrait Studio, Broadcast Media & Graphics and Merical Post.
The Hornbill International Film Festival 2018 has showcased short films in animation and documentaries from America, Latvia, Myanmar, Nagaland & north-east India.
Films screening began with 6 International Award Winning Films from Myanmar. The first film ‘Insomniacs’ was directed by M. Noe. He is an independent film maker, critic and film essayist. He likes to make diverse range and types of films.
A film called ‘better late than never’ by Ahkhee Chelsea is story of a single mom and her son. A short film by Ko Jet ‘suppose’ is a film digging out the temptation of human natures. Buffalo Boat by Kaung Myat Thu Kyaw and Myat Esi Mon is a documentary about a group of people depending on a herd of buffalos and leeches.
A short film by Kaung Sint ‘Home’ is a true story of a political prisoner who made a picture out of a plastic waste in prison for his pregnant wife & unborn child. 528 is a short film by Moses Marks. In Myanmar culture, the number 528 denotes the unconditional love between parents & children and amongst siblings. The other highlights of the films shown on the last day of the film festival were the ‘Bosti Mechanic’ produced by Mhonlumo Kikon and Iris Yingzen a short film by Sophy Lasuh from Nagaland, ‘At the fat of the motherland’ by Dominic Savio, -Ah by Napoleon Thanga from Mizoram, The snack list - Alyce Rogers and Janis Skulme from Latvia.
Advisor IPR, Toshi Wungtung and Additional Secretary, IPR and Director IPR Limawati Ao graced the last day of the GLOCAL 2018 Hornbill International Film Festival.
