Horticulture Adviser visits Vegetable Village-Longkhum

Mokokchung, June 14 (MExN): Adviser for Horticulture Department, Mhathung Yanthan visited Vegetable Village-Longkhum on June 13. According to the Department source, the project at Longkhum Village was started in 2006 which falls under Ritu Vegetable Project and is a multi-cropping project which is being managed by eighty five registered families under the project.  

The Adviser after visiting the entire project had interactions with farmers where the policies of the Department as well as the problems of the farmers were discussed informed a DIPR report.  

In the meeting, the farmers also submitted a representation to the Department addressing the urgent requirement for the development of the project. While expressing satisfaction towards the farmers, he also encouraged them to keep up their hardworking attitude and also assured the farmers to extend all possible help from his end. Earlier during the day he also visited Centre of Excellence (COE) Farm at Yisemyong.  

On June 12, the Adviser visited Longnak Canning Factory, Progeny Orchard Farm (NEC) and also Longnak and Tuli Hi-tech Vegetables Setting Unit at Tuli, which is being developed by the Department.  

The Adviser was accompanied by Secretary Horticulture, Alan Gonmei IAS, Director Horticulture, Dr. Elithung Lotha, Dy. Director, Meyasashi, DHO Mokokchung, Kilemsangba and President NDPP Mokokchung, N. Bendang Jamir.
