ICRC chief visits Nagaland Branch

Dimapur, December 14 (MExN): Simon Peter Brooks, the Deputy Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), New Delhi, who is currently in Nagaland, paid a visit to the office of the Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State Branch at Kohima on December 12, 2011, where he had a meeting with the General Secretary and other members of the Managing Committee of the IRCSN. Simon Peter Brooks was accompanied by Anukha Cumbernos, Focal Person for NE India, ICRC.
Zakie Kire, General Secretary, IRCSN in a press realease stated that during his interaction with the IRCSN, Simon Peter Brooks stated that he was overwhelmed by the hospitality and kindness of the Naga people. The Deputy Head of Delegation, ICRC, New Delhi, further stated that the ICRC is here to strengthen the partnership and work together with the local Red Cross as it is the best way to help communities.
Later in the evening, a dinner in his honour was hosted by the IRCSN at Hotel Japfü, Kohima. On the  December 13, 2011, Simon Peter Brooks visited the WW II Cemetery at Kohima. He also paid a brief visit to Kohima village and WW II Museum at Kisama.  Later, he also attended a wedding at Dimori Cove, Kigwema. He will be leaving for Guwahati on the December 14, 2011.
