The Kohima district teachers’ award ceremony took place today at District Education Office, Kohima.


Kohima Deputy Commissioner Gregory Thejawelie in his address congratulated the recipients and called upon the teachers to change their attitudes and approaches to bring better education system in the state.


“You all have become a role model and I am sure you all will keep up the good work,” he said while lauding the efforts of the teachers. He also acknowledged the outstanding quality, dedication and sincerity of the teachers.  “You are source of inspiration. Keep flying high,” he said.


He called upon the teachers to wake up and strive to implement the policies and programmes designed for students. He appealed the teachers to be more dedicated leaving aside their personal works and problems and stay focus on teaching.

 
School Education Director Wonthongo Tsopoe said that the teachers who received award today have a huge responsibility to play. Let us not forget that we are rearing the next generation, not only the textual knowledge but overall development.


Stating that people’s expectation upon the teachers is very high, he said teaching is an art and every scholar cannot be a teacher.” “We have to go down and learn to humble ourselves,” he said.


Asking the teachers to work with all dedication and sincerity, Tsopoe urged upon them not to take domestic problems as their first priority but to give fullest concentration on their job. “Let us not forget our duty,” he said and urged the teachers to have zeal and passion to work so that they will bring a difference. “Be an icon and set a good example,” he said. You as a motivator can change the mind of the children, he said. Urging the teachers to work with mission mood and be cheerful in their profession, he said “Let us take our work seriously.” He called upon the teachers to do their best and bring a change to the Naga society.  “Let us hope to have a better generation and brighter future,” he said.


Pelhouvolie, SDEO, Chiephobozou encouraged the awardees to do better and stay committed to their work.  “Receiving an award is a token of challenge and also it is a part and encouragement to do better,” he said.


Tseminyu SDEO Yhunyule Kent said that being a teacher is not an easy task as it deals with overall holistic development. “You have to be true to the duty or call of the teachers,” she said. 


Y. Mary Zhimomi, District Education Officer Kohima chaired the function while vote of thanks was proposed by Dojù Khate Sr. SDEO, Kohima.
