Kohima Inter Ward Football & Volley Tourney

Kohima, January 30 (MExN): The inaugural function of the 4th Kohima town Inter Ward Men’s Football and Women’s Volleyball Tournament 2016 will be held on February 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Kohima Local Ground with PWD (R&B) Minister Y. Vikheho Swu as chief guest.   All participating teams have been requested to reach the venue by 10:30 a.m. with their respective flags without fail. Sixteen Wards will compete in Men’s football while twelve Wards will compete in the Women’s Volleyball event which is being organized by NPF 9th Kohima Town A/C under the theme “Unity and Friendship through Sports and Music.”  

The Men’s Ward teams have been divided into two pools – Pool A which comprises Ward-14, Ward -2, Ward-15, Ward -19, Ward -10, Ward-13, Ward 18, Ward-11; and Pool B which comprises Ward-17, Ward-8, Ward-6, Ward-7, Ward -1, Ward-4, ward 16 and ward 12. Similarly, the Women’s Ward teams are also divided into two pools – Pool A comprises Ward-19, Ward -9, Ward-18, Ward -2, Ward -10, Ward-12; while Pool B comprises Ward-16, Ward-13, Ward-17, Ward-11, Ward -7 and Ward-15. The Inter Ward women singing competition will be held at the State Academy Hall on February 3 starting 5 p.m. Each group will present two songs – one compulsory song titled “Great is thy faithfulness” and the other of their own choice.   The Band competition will he held on February 4 and 5 starting 5 p.m. Each band will perform three songs – Smokie’s “Mexican Girl” being the compulsory song while the bands are free to pick two others songs of their own choices.   On February 1 at 12 noon, the first match will be played between Ward 14 and Ward 2 and the second match at 1.40 p.m. with Ward 17 taking on Ward No 8 for men’s football.   The women’s volleyball matches on the same day will see Ward 19 take on Ward 9 in the first match, while Ward 16 take on Ward 13 in the second match. In the third match, Ward 2 will take on Ward 10 while in the fourth match, Ward 11 will lock horns with Ward 7. The tournament will conclude on February 6.
