The Rotary Club Kohima’s three week long ‘Kohima We Care’ community service project concluded on May 17. 
 

Rotary Club Kohima’s 3-week community service concludes 
 

KOHIMA, MAY 17 (MExN): The Rotary Club of Kohima carried out a three week community service project called ‘Kohima We Care’ from April 20 to May 17. The campaign aimed to help the needy during the lockdown crises. 


The Rotarians distributed relief rations to five hundred and fifty families, identified through the Naga Mothers’ Association and Rotarians. The beneficiaries were given rice, dal, potatoes and chillies, sponsored by Rotarians and donor friends of the Club. The beneficiaries were single mothers, widows, daily wagers both men and women,students and siblings from far flung areas, cancer patients, victims of domestic abuse, HIV positive families and Naga war veteran families.


The Club also handed over Rotary Nutrition rations to the vulnerable communities in Old Age Homes, Kohima; Bright Morning Star Orphanage, Kripa Rehabilitation Centre and NMA Cradle Ridge, Seithogei as well as the children and young people of the Rotary Gift of Life, Free Heart Surgery.


In recognition of the daily work by the front liners, RC Kohima also handed over surgical masks and hand sanitisers on May 17 to the President, Kohima Press Club for media personnel, for Police and Traffic police to the Officer In Charge, North Police Station, Kohima and to the Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre, Kohima that looks after Kohima village, Chedema, Rusoma and surrounding colonies.


A press release from the Rotary Club Kohima meanwhile appreciated the Naga Mothers’ Association for partnering and identifying beneficiaries in different colonies all over Kohima as well as the NNP+ officials and the Coordinator, Kripa Drop In Centre. It also thanked individual donors.
