Kohima, September 15 (MExN): A one-day training programme on capacity building for farmers was organized at the Conference Hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kohima on September 12.


Dr V Akashe Zhimomi, Senior Scientist & head, KVK, Kohima in a press release stated that progressive farmers from Tesophenyu and Ziphenyu village attended the programme. It stated that the technical session touched topics on cultivation practices of pea, insect pest management of winter vegetables, awareness on Swachhta Hi Sewa programme and doubling farmers’ income through systematic planning.


Imtisenla ACTO (agronomy), K Michael Pienyu ACTO (Plant Protection), Zhiete ACTO (Soil conservation) and Longma Yanger ACTO (Agri. Extension) from KVK Kohima were the resource persons and altogether 28 farmers attended the training.


The release also stated that on September 11, a programme was organized on the occasion of launching of the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP) for Foot and Mouth Diseases (FMD) and Brucellosis and National Artificial Insemination Programme by the Prime Minister of India which was live webcasted from Mathura, Uttara Pradesh.


On the occasion, KVK, Kohima brought out two books entitled ‘Technology Resources for farmers of Kohima District’ Vol-I and Vol-II which was released by Nokchasashi ADC, Tseminyu. He hoped the technology resource produced by the Kendra would benefit the farmers of the district and also help the policy makers in framing policies, the release said.
