Mount Tiyi College annual cultural day held

 

Wokha, February 17 (MExN): Mount Tiyi College Wokha conducted the annual cultural day on February 14 with the theme “Learn, Revive and Preserve Culture”. The event was graced by Chonbenthung Ezung, SDO (C) as special guest and Haruna Watabe from Japan as special invitee.

 


Welcome address was delivered by Dr Rosanna Kikon, Asso Prof (History). Lotha folk song was presented by 4th Semester students followed by a folk dance by the 6th Semester students. A short speech on the significance of cultural day was delivered by Myingthunglo Murry, Asst. Prof (History). The event was marked by display of Naga Indigenous Attire and competition on folktale narration and Lotha modern songs. In his speech, Chonben emphasized on the importance of knowing our own culture and exhorted the gathering to be cautious about blindly imitating other nations’ culture which are seen on screen without knowing the reality.

 


Special invitee from Tokyo, Japan Haruna Watabe, in her short speech exhorted the students to learn to persevere and work hard to achieve their goals. She shared from her life testimony on how to be strong willed and that nothing is impossible if one has the will and determination.
