Liangmai and Rongmei student orgs clarify

Newmai News Network Imphal | August 16 The Rongmei Students' Organisation, Manipur (RSOM) and Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR) have clarified that they are in anyway has no relationship with any armed organization as alleged by Zeliangrong bodies.   The two student bodies also said that the Zeliangrong bodies are trying to mislead the public by such allegation.   "The RSOM and LNKR are purely student organisations working hard for the upliftment of the Rongmei and Liangmai society in the fields of education, art and culture, traditions and custom," the two bodies claimed. They also said they have done nothing in "diluting the sanctity of any students."   The RSOM and LNKR then dismissed the allegations by the Zeliangrong frontal organisations some of the latter's members were abducted by NSCN-IM in collaboration with RSOM and LNKR. "So this clearly shows the evil works of the Zeliangrong bodies as they are only trying to cover up their wrong doings while, in the same time, trying to draw public sympathy.   LNKR and RSOM then said that, in the larger interest of the people and for the development and progress of the Rongmai and Liangmai inhabitant areas, they have opposed the bandh called by the Zeliangrong bodies.   Further, LNKR and RSOM claimed they have never violated law or threatened the "precious life of a person of any organization or tribe particularly, Zeme, Laingmai and Rongmei."   LNKR and RSOM then strongly condemned the burning vehicles and for imposing bandh Imphal-Jiri road and also for stopping the works of national and state projects. "Such activities should be condemned by all as they are never a democratic agitation," said LNKR and RSOM.
