Meeting discusses constraints faced by government school

Kohima, December 11 (MExN): The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya had a meeting to discuss with Government school teachers, students and managing committee representatives at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan Kohima on December 11.   With an aim to discuss the constraints faced by government school with regard to infrastructure facilities, mode of teaching and other welfare activities for both faculties and students, the Governor called the meeting, informed a press release issued by PRO to Governor.  

Governor Acharya stated that government schools have the responsibility to strengthen the society. Stating that the strength of the chain lies in the weakest link, the Governor said that Government schools should impart proper and quality education to the students. The Governor also felt the need to introduce skill based courses for all round development and employment for the students when they pass out and stated that students should be prepared to be entrepreneurs.  

Governor Acharya called on the students to respect their teachers, to give back to their school once they pass out and not to be self centred. It should be your social responsibility to make sure that your school improves on all fields and you should play a role in strengthening the society, the Governor stated.  

The Governor also encouraged the Managing Committee representatives present at the meeting to visit the schools in order to understand the problems faced by the students and teachers and to act on the challenges and problems. He also suggested the representatives to think about Public Private Partnership (PPP) for the development of their respective school.  

Interacting with the teachers, the Governor said that education should open the minds of the students to strengthen the society.  

Governor Acharya also reaffirmed that mid day meals at schools should be implemented without fail. He said that students should not be deprived of their rights. He called on the Managing Committee members and the faculty to implement the Mid Day Meal Scheme in their respective school appropriately.  

All together seven Government schools along with teachers, students and Managing Committee representatives from in and around Kohima attended the meeting at Raj Bhavan.
