DDLSA to cover 10,000 household

Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) is set for ‘Door to Door Campaign’ on September 23 organised by Nagaland State Legal Services Authority with the theme ‘reach out, someone over their needs you.’ Hukato Swu, Principal District and sessions Judge, Dimapur/Chairman DDLSA , Ajongba Imchen Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dimapur, Secretary DDLSA, along with 20 Panels Lawyers and 10 Para Legal Volunteers will cover 10,000 (ten thousand) household in the targeted village and colonies to create legal awareness. The DDLSA in a press release has requested all the Village Councils, student’s body, women organisation and Churches of the selected Villages, Colonies for corporation and participate in the said campaign. The concern Village council Chairman and G.B of the colonies are to inform to all the public to be at station/home on day of campaign. PDLSA PLVs visits District Jail Phek

Phek, September 19 (DIPR): Five Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) visited the District Jail Phek on September 16. During a brief programme at the fellowship hall, PLV Sekukho spoke on the rights of prisoners. He said that the prisoners are entitled to the same rights as other citizens as the law ensures to balance security and welfare. Highlighting few points on the rights of the prisoner, PLV Diezekho said that the prisoner have the right to be in the open air for at least an hour a day. He said that the prisoners have the right to be provided with food to maintain the health and well-being. The PLV pointed out that the prisoners also have the right to have access reasonable medical care, the right to receive atleast one visit an hour each week, the right to take part in educational programmes in the prison. Altogether 21 prisoners including one female attended the programme.  

Naga Students’ Union Bangalore notifies

Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): The Office of the Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) has requested all the parents whose children are studying or working in Bangalore, to encourage their children to register in their respective Union for the year 2017-2018. NSUB President Nuthipru Nienu and General Secretary Bendangkala Kichu said that this registration will allow the concerned to understand one another, help each other during emergencies, qualifies to participate in any NSUB activities and events and will also help to stay connected to each other. ‘Swar Sudha’ from Sept 20 to 22

Dimapur, September 19 (DIPR): Sangeet Natak Akademi in collaboration with Department of Art and Culture, Government of Nagaland will be organizing ‘Swar Sudha’ from September 20 to 22 at IMC Hall, Dimapur. The programme will be starting at 5:30 pm every day.The Festival of Choral Music and Instrumental Ensemble will be observed as part of Sankalp Se Sidhi, Celebrating the New India Movement 2017-22. Choirs and groups from different places like Delhi, Mizoram, Manipur, Sikkim, Varanasi, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh and Nagaland will be performing during the music festival.  

BS&G Wokha to celebrate Peace Day

Wokha, September 19 (MExN): The Wokha District Bharat Scouts & Guides Association will celebrate International Day of Peace at Wokha on September 21, 10:00 am at Mount Sinai School Wokha under the theme “Togetherness for peace, respect, safety and dignity for all”. The programme will be graced by Dr. Abeni Kithan Principal Mt. Tiyi College cum Vice President BS&G Wokha as the chief guest. Rev. Sulumo Ezung Pastor WTBC will be the theme speaker while spreading message of peace with action by scouts & Guides by H. Orenpomo Ngullie DOC (S) BS&G Wokha. T. Chobenthung Odyuo SDEO cum Dist Secretary BS&G in a press circular informed the principal/headmaster of Cistus, Regimental, Mt. Sinai, LMS, Isaiah and Mt. Carmel Schools to send their Scout & Guides with full uniform and reach the venue by 09:00 Am sharp on the said occasion.  

District Level Kala Utsav at Kohima

Kohima, September 19 (DIPR): The District Education Department is organizing District Level Kala Utsav competition on September 22 at Multipurpose Hall, Ruzhukhrie Government Higher Secondary School at 10:00 am. Deputy District Education Officer Kohima District, Neizetuonuo stated that Kala Utsav’s main objective is to encourage and promote showcasing promising talents at National level and it is proposed to be organized by NCERT annually at the national level. Neizetuonuo said that the event shall focus on performing Arts, Dance Music and theatre. She also said that the talent search is supposed to begin from the schools to represent District level and then to state level and finally at National level.  

GHS Wokha alumni to form association

Wokha, September 19 (MExN): Alumni of the Govt High School, Wokha now upgraded to Govt Higher Secondary School (GHSS) are informed that there will be a general meeting along with the school authority on September 28 at 11: 00 am in the school auditorium to form Alumni Association and to discuss forthcoming 75th years anniversary celebration in 2019. Therefore, all alumni are requested to attend the meeting positively.  

KDLSA imparts legal awareness to students

Kohima, September 19 (DIPR): The Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) organized a legal awareness programme with the Sumi Sunday School Students and Teachers of Kenuozou colony, SBCK on September 17. Panel Lawyer KDLSA, Zheviholi Swu spoke on cyber crime, merit and demerit of social media, offences and punishment under IPC, IT Act. She also highlighted the aims and objectives of Legal Aid services, free legal services/assistance rendered to the public. Panel Lawyer KDLSA, Aketoli J. Yepthomi spoke on the topic JJ Act, right to education, fundamental rights, and special provision for children. Khekani Shohe, Sunday School Teacher chaired the programme while special song was presented by Jessica and Khulu.  

MGM College celebrate fresher’s social

Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): MGM College organized its Fresher’s Social programme on September 16. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Shibu Varghese spoke about the beauty of college life, stating every student should enjoy his/her college life in a positive way. He also encouraged the students to decorate their mind and have faith in God, stated a press release. Meanwhile, the principal inspired the students to learn from their mistakes. Anglem Konyak spoke on behalf of the freshers. Karan Dholi and Niana Sharma were crowned Mr & Miss Fresher respectively.  

NCP State central executive meet

Kohima, September 19 (MExN): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) State convenor, Vanthungo Odyuo has informed that, State central executive meeting will be held along with Narendra Verma, NCP National Secretary cum Spokesperson and incharge of North East, NCP on September 22 at 3:00 PM at Acacia restaurant, opposite to east police station, Dimapur, followed by press conference at 4:30 PM at the same venue. All NCP central office bearers, frontal chiefs and district office bearers have been requested to attend the said meeting positively.  

NNC/FGN joint meeting

Kohima, September 19 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland informed that a joint meeting of the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland will be held on September 25 at Transit Peace Camp Kohima. The meeting will discuss on the ongoing situation in Nagaland and the needs of the hour. All the central authorities, regional authorities and high ranking Naga army officers of the NNC/FGN have been requested to positively attend the said meeting. This was stated in a release issued by FGN secretary Thihü Khamo.
