DSSATA convenes general meet

Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): Dimapur SSA Teachers Association (DSSATA) has convened a general meeting on March 12, 11:00 am at Government Higher Secondary School ground near DEO/SDEO office, Dimapur. Therefore, all members have been asked to be present without fail. Absentees would be imposed a fine of Rs.500, stated a press release issued by DSSATA Information and Publicity Secretary. However, the note stated, for genuine cases teachers may send a representation for the said meeting. Further, extending its full co-operation to the NSSATA stir called from March 10 to 22, DSSATA cautioned that strict action would be taken against defaulting teachers under its unit. United Naga Tribes Association formed

Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): To pursue the interest of the educated farmers residing in and around Dimapur consisting of Ao, Sumi, Lotha, Konyak, Sangtam, Khiamniungan, and many other Naga tribes, an organization called “United Naga Tribes Association (UNTA)” has been formed. UNTA secretary, Hukavi Yepthomi in a press statement informed that the organization was formed after series of meetings and discussions in regards to the interest of the like-minded Naga tribes from Dimapur. The purpose of the Association is to protect the land adjoining Dimapur within Nagaland, he added. The Association also elected Chuba Jamir as sessional chairman.

Veterinary Colony Council members

Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): Veterinary Colony Council, Dimapur has selected its new office bearers and executive members for the year 2014-2019. Vaccination camp at Niroyo village

Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): One-day training on scientific rearing of livestock cum vaccination camp was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (ICAR-RC) on February 28 at Niroyo village of Wokha district. Dr. Moaakum, KVK (ICAR) Wokha informed in a press release that Dr. Moa from KVK Wokha, speaking as resource person delivered a brief lecture on scientific methods of successful rearing of livestock. Huge quantities of veterinary medicines like deworming, vitamins and mineral mixtures were distributed to the farmers. The vaccination for farm and domestic animals was conducted along with veterinary field assistants from district veterinary office Wokha where around 65 pigs, 56 dogs and poultry were vaccinated against swine fever, rabies, ranikhet and fowl pox.

CMA recognizes service of retiring PGC vice principal

Phek, March 9 (MExN): Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) has bid adieu to Dr. BR Chetri, vice principal, Phek Government College (PGC) who is retiring from his service on March 10 after serving at PGC for 33 years “with full sincerity and dedication to the college.”
According to a press note appended by CMA President, Zaposhelu Venuh, Dr. Chetri was the founder of PGC and moulded the present college from its infant till date. It added that the up gradation of the college to the present status was the sole handiwork of Chetri. He was tirelessly working for the promotion of the college even during the commissioning of the college under privatised institution, the CMA stated.
Through the sincere and dedicated efforts made by Dr. Chetri for the past 33 years, numerous students from the locality and neighbouring villages benefited a lot and are highly indebted to him, CMA acknowledged.
The mothers’ organization expressed pain to part with a learned man like Chetri, who richly contributed in different aspects for the interest of the students’ community in particular and the whole community in general. The CMA, while acknowledging his sincere and loyal dedication for the people of Phek, prayed that the Almighty God grant him and his family a worthy retired living and a long live.

Teachers training for NBCC schools under ABAM

Mokokchung, March 9 (MExN): Teachers training in three disciplines (Mathematics, English and Music) for NBCC member schools under ABAM in Mokokchung district will be held from March 12 to 14 at Impur. All the headmasters/headmistresses have been requested to send three teachers, one from each discipline, for the said training. An additional 15 seats will be allotted to youth leaders under ABAM churches who are interested to join Music training (Staff Notation, Conducting Pattern etc). Food and lodging will be arranged by ABAM free of cost. Only Rs. 200/- will be realized from each participant for registration and training materials.

SCERT conducts teacher-training prog in Bhandari

Bhandari, March 9 (MExN): An SCERT sponsored teacher-training programme of six days duration was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhandari for the teachers of government and private schools under Bhandari Sub Division.
The training for the subject teachers of Social Sciences and Science was conducted on February 24 and 26 with Imlila, Vitsonuo, Bedeko and Daniel Thong, senior lectures, DIET/SCERT as resource persons. The training for English and Mathematics teachers was conducted from March 3 to 5 with Kenilo Semp, Sinha, Akhala Kin and Dr. Imlienla Imchen, senior lectures, DIET/SCERT as resource persons.
The main objective of the training programme was to empower the teachers teaching in secondary sections with the skills and techniques of teaching the subjects concerned as many of the teachers from the region are untrained, a release said. Nearly 100 teachers from the sub division attended the training and were quite impressed and motivated by the short training.
Nellayappan, Principal, GHSS, Bhandari and the trainees have expressed their sincere gratitude to Vipralhou Kesiezie, Director, SCERT, Nagaland for sanctioning the programme and to the resource persons for devoting their valuable time to them in the rural area. They also expressed their desire to attend more such programmes in the future.
