One arrested in Dimapur

Dimapur, May 21 (MExN): Following a tip off, the Dimapur police and Special Branch arrested an "extortionist" on May 19 from Notun Basti. The accused identified as Vishika Yepthomi (Vika) was found threatening a non-local businessman and demanding Rs.10,000/- in the name of NSCN(K), stated a press note issued by Addl. Superintendent of Police/ PRO Dimapur. The release said that a demand note in the name of the organization was recovered from the possession of the accused. Police have registered a case in this connection.

Kohima police arrest three

Kohima, May 21 (MExN): The Kohima Police on May 19 arrested one person identified as Kuzholuto Lohe of Yoruba village, who escaped from Phek Sub-Jail on April 15 along with four others. According to SDPO & PRO, DEF Kohima, Lohe was arrested from Capital Hotel, Kohima and was later handed over to Phek Police in connection with Phek Police station C/No. 0011/14 u/s 120B/224/34 IPC. In a separate incident on May 19, the Kohima Police detected and seized 23 packets of ganja each weighing 10 Kgs (230 Kgs) from a Bolero bearing R/No. Nl-07-7484 at Peducha and arrested two persons, namely M. Mahung (45) of Hungdung village, Ukhrul and YS Ningreishang (25) of Teinem village, Somdal. A case has been registered at Sechu Zubza Police Station and investigation is on, stated the release.

Kohima, May 21 (MExN): Principal Director of School Education, Kesonyü Yhome has informed all District Education Officers/ Sub-Division Education Officers to submit the Pre-Matric Scholarship for minority communities 2014-15 to the Directorate of School Education on or before May 30, 2014.

NRC on Mithun mourns
Dr. R Zinyu’s death


Dimapur, May 21 (MExN): The director and all the staff of NRC on Mithun, ICAR, Medziphema has expressed deep sadness at the sudden demise of Dr. R Zinyu, member of Institute Management Committee and Research Advisory Committee of NRC on Mithun. Dr Zinyu was associated with the institute for a long time and fruitfully contributed for the progress of the institute in many ways, stated the director of NRC on Mithun in a condolence message. “He will be greatly missed and remembered in the institute and everyone here is saddened by his untimely passing,” added the note. It further prayed for the departed soul to live in peace. “Our thoughts are with Mrs Zinyu and other family members and friends during this difficult time.”

Zunheboto monthly
ASHA meeting held


Zunheboto, May 21 (DIPR): The monthly ASHA meeting for Zunheboto Sadar was held on May 20 at CMO Office, Zunheboto. The ASHAs were briefed about the importance of maintaining monthly reports and VHND. They were also reminded to maintain ASHA diary properly and were encouraged to work hard for the community and bring about positive change. ASHA uniforms, HB stick, and Uri-stick were distributed during the meeting. Altogether 32 ASHAs from the block attended the meeting.

NSF to felicitate Naga toppers

Kohima, May 21 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) is organizing felicitation programme for Naga HSLC toppers 2014 on May 23, 11:00 am at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima. Kesonyü Yhome (IAS), Principal Director, School Education will grace the function as chief guest, Watienla Jamir, Director, Horticulture will exhort on behalf of the toppers’ parents, and Vevotolu Kezo, Top No 3 will deliver speech on behalf of the toppers. Invocation prayer will be pronounced by Vikuo Rhi and special number will be presented by Binthu Newmai. The NSF has invited all the senior leaders, federating units/ sub-ordinate bodies, Naga Toppers 2014, parents and guardians of the toppers to attend the programme.
