Nagaland to hosts NE Sustainability Conclave

Medziphema, April 11 (MExN): The National Productivity Council, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry and ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, GoI will be organising the North-East Sustainability Conclave on Productivity and Green Growth at ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema, Dimapur on April 13. 

An update from the ICAR stated that Indian Potash Limited (IPL) is supporting the conclave as Industry Partner. This conclave focuses on promoting sustainable economic growth in the Northeast region of India by bringing together various stakeholders from the government, private sector and academia along with progressive farmers, to discuss and exchange ideas on how to achieve sustainable development in the region.

The Government of India has committed to reaching its non-fossil energy capacity of 500 GW by 2030, meeting 50% of its energy requirements from renewable energy by 2030, reducing total projected carbon emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030, reducing the carbon intensity of its economy by less than 45% and achieving the target of Net Zero by 2070.

‘Lifestyle for Environment’ or LiFE, as declared by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in Glasgow on the sidelines of COP26 is indicative of all-inclusive green growth improving the standard of living. Green growth is possible only through sustainable practices, resource efficiency and renewable energy sources. Green growth envisions a future with environmentally sustainable and equitable economic growth, resource security, a healthy environment (air, water, and land), and restored ecosystems with rich ecology and biodiversity.

‘Keeping in view the significance of Productivity and Green Growth, this conclave will be organised, as productivity and green growth issues are highly relevant to the state of Nagaland,’ it stated.

The conclave will be chaired by Sh Sundeep K Nayak, IAS, Director General, National Productivity Council and will also be addressed by Dr BN Tripathi, DDG (Animal Science), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr DN Thakur, National President, Sahakar Bharati, Dr KM Bujarbaruah, Former DDG (Animal Science) and Former Vice Chancellor, AAU, Jorhat, Dr S Venugopal, Director, National Institute of Technology, Nagaland, Dimapur, and KD Bhardwaj, Director, Environment and Climate Change, NPC.

Dr TK Dutta, Director, ICAR-CIRB, Hisar, Haryana, Dr Girish Patil S, Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Deans and Professors from SASARD, Medziphema, Veterinary College, Jalukie, Patkai Christian College, Chümoukedima, SET, Dimapur will also be participating in the event.
