
Yimkhiung Regional Council NNC (Parent Body) clarifies
Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): In reference to the article published in local dailies on May 16, Yimkhiung Regional Council, NNC (Parent Body) clarified on the region’s stand “to the people in the Homeland regarding the former Acting President of the NNC (Parent Body) Z Royim.” Yimkhiung Regional Council, NNC (Parent Body) President, Ahoshe Yimkhuing and Midan Peyu, Shito Yimkhuing in a press release stated that Royim “was denounced and expelled from the NNC set up due to his act of betrayal and compromising the Naga people’s Democratic Rights for freedom, hence, the decision to remove and expel him was taken unanimously by the NNC (Parent Body) as a whole.” Therefore, Z Royim is no longer a part of the NNC (Parent Body) and should not be confused for one by the Naga people and particularly the Yimkhiung Region NNC (Parent Body). In fact, in the past he was also using some other Organisation’s name and was expelled by that group too, it stated. The press release also cautioned that Royim should “never meddle in the affairs of the NNC (Parent Body). This is our clear statement about Z Royim from the Yimkhiung Region.”
NNC/FGN meeting on May 27
Kohima, May 20 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) monthly NNC/FGN meeting will be held on May 27 at 10: 00 am in Transit Peace Camp (TPC), Kohima. Rali Wali Kilonser, Federal Government of Nagaland in a press release has requested all the Central Authorities, Regional Authorities, eligible national workers and Naga Army Officers of the NNC/FGN to positively attend the meeting.
One arrested with 69 soap boxes of heroin in Nagaland
Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): In a tip off about illegal transaction of drugs in 6th mile area Chümoukedima, the Excise Narcotic Cell duty party swung into action and seized 69 soap boxes of Sunflower (Heroin) weighing approximately 759 grams from the illegal possession of one SP Mesiingaolou, a resident of Maram Bazar, Senapati, Manipur. “The seized contraband drug was recovered from his trolley bag. The accused was immediately arrested and booked under the relevant sections of NDPS Act 1985. The case is now under active investigation,” informed an update from S Phyobemo Kikon, DY Commissioner of Excise (NC), Nagaland. He also added that the effort of the duty party is highly commendable for their relentless effort in effecting the seizure in combating the dreaded drugs menace and illegal trafficking.
DMC informs on maximum collection of clean plastics
Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): In order to commemorate World Environment day 2024 in a befitting manner, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) in collaboration with SBM-U is coming up with a special advocacy towards Plastic Management with special emphasis on Single Use Plastics (SUPs) and Multi-Layered Plastics (MLPs).
DMC is therefore organising a competition amongst colonies for maximum collection of clean plastics and in this regard all stakeholders are hereby advised to store all plastic waste separately for a period of two weeks, beginning from May 20 and will be collected by the DMC on June 1.
Categories of plastic to be separated will be e-cyclable plastics & SUPs/MLPs. All collected plastics have to be clean and dry so that such plastics collected can be used as RDF material at the cement kilns to be disposed in an eco-friendly manner.
Collection of collected plastics will be done in a ward-wise manner however competitors of this competition will be colonies, Collection points will be as such: Ward 1, 10, 21; Ward 2, 3, 4, 22; Ward 5, 6, 8, 20; Ward 9, 13, 15, 18; Ward 11, 12, 14; Ward 7, 16, 17, 19, 23. “Further information with regard to the drive and competition will be shared in the coming days,” DMC office informed in a press release.
