Need of the hour among Nagas is reconciliation, building trust: Rio

Nagas in NCR Delhi celebrate advent Christmas

Dimapur, December 10 (MExN): Under the theme, 'Home is when we are together', the Naga diaspora of National Capital Region (NCR) celebrated advent Christmas at Nagaland House 29 APJ Abdul Kalam Road. The event was organized by the Naga Forum Delhi along with the various community churches and fellowships of the Nagas in Delhi.

Rev. Dr. Mathanmi Zimik, the Senior Pastor of the Tangkhul Church Delhi delivered a message based on Psalm 95: 6, ‘Come Let us bow down in worship, Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker’.

He urged the congregation to be humble and surrender themselves to the Lord, to love their own brothers and sisters.

More than anything the Nagas today need the humility of Christ that touches the most wounded and the hurt, he added.

Welcoming the gathering, the President of the Naga Forum Delhi and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Neiphiu Rio emphasized that the need of the hour for the Nagas is to reconcile and begin building trust and hope amongst ‘ourselves’.

Stating that nothing works better than being united, Rio urged the congregation to ponder on the theme of the day, “Home is when we are together.” He said, “We are safest when we are in the care of each other. There cannot be anything better than being loved and beloved by one’s own brothers.”

Leading the congregation Mercy Epao, Director, Ministry for Development of Northeast Region (DONER) also exhorted the gathering to come to the Lord in “submission and in love.”

A press note informed that during the celebration, the Chakhesang Christian Fellowship, Poumai Baptist Church Delhi presented special songs while the Tangkhul Church Delhi led the Carol for the occasion. The Delhi Eastern Nagaland Students' Union (DENSU) took over the responsibility of ushering the congregation and decorating the stage. The congregation was served dinner and refreshment by the Lotha Christian Fellowship and the Thangal Maram Fellowship.

More than 350 Nagas from various walks of life attended the fellowship, it added.
