NSCN (K) clarifies on Sept 18 firing case

Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The NSCN (K) today issued a corrigendum regarding its clarification on the arrest of two alleged NSCN (K) cadres in connection with September 18 attempt on life of a businessperson in Dimapur. It had “rendered erroneously” one of the accused as Akheto Chopy instead of Hekato Chopy, stated a press release from MIP, NSCN (K).

“It is also learned that Hekato Chopy has for several times been apprehended by the security agencies on extortion charges all the while claiming to be a Captain or Lieutenant of NSCN and the commander of Dimapur town,” it pointed out.

However, NSCN (K) disowned all the claims whatsoever and informed the authority concerned to “not ascribe any of the claims made by the habitual criminal to NSCN/GPRN but to award maximum penalty and prevent the offender from committing further anti-social activities.”

Meanwhile, it clarified that Khumtsa Sumi as ascertained from the Chaplee Ministry has never been appointed as the Secretary of Finance. He has however been assigned as the Finance Assistant by the finance In-charge of Dimapur district and is therefore authorized to deal with financial matters in and around Dimapur during the current financial year 2016-17, the release added.

The Special Operation Team (SOT) of Dimapur Police had on October 23 arrested two alleged NSCN (K) cadres identified as Hekato Chopy (34) and Aliet Haflongbar (27) in connection with the case.
