NVCO Tseminyu demands restoration of transformer

DIMAPUR, APRIL 23 (MExN): The Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization, Tseminyu Sub-division unit today appealed to the Power Department to immediately restore the feeder power transformer at Tseminyu Town.

A press note from the NVCO unit informed that the consumers’ forum had called the NH-2 bandh on February 6, 2015 wherein on February 5, 2015, through the initiative of the ADC Tseminyu, the SE (Power)  had a consultative meeting with the consumers’ forum of Pugoboto Sub-division, Wozhuro range and Tseminyu sub-division in the ADC’s conference hall Tseminyu, in the presence of  ADC Pugoboto, EAC Wozhuro, EE (Elect), Wokha, SDO(Elect) Wokha, J.E(Elect) Tseminyu, where  the SE (Power) Kohima, assured many things to improve power supply to the region.

It mentioned that “out of many promises one was to shift the 33KV transmission pole passing through the bamboo groove/Plantation within longsa area under wokha district which disrupt smooth power supply to these three regions.” It however lamented that nothing has been done till date.

And to add to the woes of the consumers, the JE posted to Tseminyu has not attended his duties for more than 8 months and department has not initiated anything so far, the NVCO unit informed. It stated that due to non-presence of controlling officer in the station, the day to day maintenance works are not carried out, resulting in the transformer breakdown on April 9.

The NVCO Tseminyu Sub-division Unit questioned why the 1MVA power transformer sanctioned against the sub-division has not yet been installed till date, also why the department never fulfilled its assurances. It appealed to the department to restore the transformer within 10 days, starting April 24. “Otherwise the department shall be held responsible for any untoward incident,” it cautioned.
