PAC-NCD supports demand for enquiry committee on illegal collections

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 16 (MExN): The Public Action Committee (PAC) under the aegis of Naga Council Dimapur has extended support to Nagaland Voluntary Consumers Organization (NVCO) and Kohima District Truck Owners and Drivers Union (KDTODU) appealing the District administration to set up an Enquiry Committee on illegal collections going on in Kohima District.

Media cell, PAC-NCD in a press statement said it is the bounden duty of the state government to contain and condone illegal collections, lease systems, syndications so that the citizens do not become victims of greed of a few. The trend of collecting illegal money by unions and organisations has become a menace and they are responsible for undue escalation of prices, it stated.

The committee said it finds no reason as to why the state government cannot reign on such illegal collections when the High Court order of June 3, 2014 stands and further questioned as to why the state government cannot strictly implement its own standing order of June 22, 2009.

The PAC also expressed shock that apex organisations such as Southern Angami Public Organisations (SAPO) should show such ill examples and appeal SAPO and other unions, organisations, associations etc to stop such collections immediately.
Stating that it unconditionally extend support to all likeminded organisations that fight against the social evils affecting the Naga public, the Committee has appealed all unions, bodies, organisations to come out in support of these genuine organisations fighting  for a better and healthier Naga society.
