Pangyu inaugurates Mongkhong Village in Longleng

Longleng, November 8 (DIPR): “Let shun all forms of past differences prevailing among the community, and to join hands and reconcile to build a vibrant community,” said Advisor, DUDA & NEPED, S Pangnyu Phom addressing a massive gathering of village functionaries at the inaugural function of the newly recognized Mongkhong Village on November 7.   “Violence has no place in the fast changing world” he added, asserting that “the strength of a community lies on unity of its people.”  

“The village needs to be nurtured properly to meet the basic amenities and to progress,” Pangnyu pointed while calling on the Government officers to cater to the requirements of the village. He also urged the people of the village to build cordial relation with Government officials. He reminded that the elected government alone cannot fulfill the demands of the people without the assistance from government officers.  

Lauding Bhumnyu village for donating their land for development of the district, including the lone Yingli College Pangnyu, called on the gathering to emulate the good deeds of Bhumnyu. He advised the newly inaugurated village to maintain their old cultural and traditional values of respecting their parental village, and maintain peace and tranquility with their neighbors. Appealing people’s support to his leadership, he apprised of the recognition of six new villages that were recognized in the district, attributing the same to the support of the people.  

Speaking on behalf of the district administration SDO (Civil), Longleng, D. Robin in his speech congratulated the village leaders for establishment of the new village. He informed that the district administration would provide all possible assistance for development of the village. He also urged the developmental departments to assist the village for infrastructure development, which is essential for other developments to take place.  

Ex-Minister, N. Metpong Phom, President, PPC, P. Chingan Phom, Head GB, Bhumnyu, N. Nampei and VCC, Dungkhao, Y. Mulim Phom delivered short speeches. Chairman, AMVC, C. Asum Phom said the welcome address. VCC, Bhumnyu, E. Ongba Phom said the greeting. Pastor, DBC, pronounced the invocation prayer while, YB Angam Phom and Women Pastor, BBC, Chumla said the vote of thanks and benediction respectively.  

The programme also witnessed a special song presented by Bhumnyu CYE and Mongkhong youth, cultural dance by Yongpheng Morung Bhumnyu and Choichemla Dungkhao Village. Representatives various Phom villages and neighboring villages of Konyaks attended the programme.
