RNSU holds 57th Foundation Day

DIMAPUR, JUNE 12 (MExN): The Rengma Naga Students’ Union (RNSU) organized the 57th Foundation Day Celebration cum Executive Committee Meeting on June 10 and 11 at RNSU Head Office, Akhoiphuta- Jongpha village, Chokihola, Karbi Anglong, Assam.  

A press note from the RNSU informed that the President file handing & taking over was done between the outgoing President, Phenpiga Himbü Rengma and the newly inducted President, Kanti J. Rengma, who will take up the post till the current tenure i.e. December 2018.  

The outgoing President delivered his farewell speech, quoting the challenges being faced during his leadership and expressed gratitude for relentless support from the Rengma Community as well from other organizations of Karbi Anglong etc. The house meanwhile decided to hold the 57th General Conference at Nkhenlari village from December 27 to 29.  

On the second day, the 57th RNSU Foundation Day Celebration flag was hoisted. The RNSU expressed gratitude to the outgoing President for his relentless services towards the Rengma Naga tribes during his leadership since December 2012. It wished him all success and sound health in his future endeavors. The union also appreciated Vice President, Abi Sebü Rengma for taking up the President in-charge from August 6, 2017 till April 28, 2018.  

Meanwhile a strong message was also declared in be meeting condemning the recent lynching of two Assamese men at Panjuri Village in Karbi Anglong. The organisations appealed all respectable citizens to avoid violence and urged that the culprits be given the harshest punishment.
