Sazo encourages preserving medicinal and aromatics plants

Phek, August 10 (DIPR): The Phek DPDB meeting was held on August 10 at the DC’s Conference Hall, Phek, chaired by DPDB Chairman and Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board, Neiba Kronu.
The meeting was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare & Women Development, Chotisu Sazo and Advisor, Science & Technology, New & Renewable Energy, Deo Nukhu. The chairman in his remark stressed on the importance of preserving and growing medicinal and aromatics plants and also added that Phek district should be an organic district where import of livestock’s from outside should be completely banned. He also stated that random jungle burning should be strictly banned and called for preservation of forest by mass plantation of trees for which he called on the NGOs of the district to work hand in hand with the government by adopting some effective measures.
Earlier Commissioner & Secretary Forest, Dr. Bhatia, in his short address highlighted on national forest programme where villagers were asked to preserve forest, to meet the challenges of climatic changes and also asked the Board to help in preserving wild life and community reserved forests. He suggested that free LPG connection would be given to the villages as an alternative of firewood fuel to encouraged preservation of forest. The problem of LPG shortage was also deliberated at length and the Board agreed for creation of LPG outlets in all the ADC Hq. in the district for easy access and availability at a subsidized rate to the public.
Other agenda, which were discussed, included approval of common pool LADP fund for the year 2011-12. The Board also recommended for recognition of Private Primary School at Yisisotha Village. Further the Board also agreed to a suggestion made by Executive Engineer, (Power) for communitization of electricity in the remaining 38 villages of Phek district. The SDO Power, in all the sub-divisions was asked to interact and discuss with the villages regarding communitization and to bring their report in the next DPDB meeting for further deliberation. On the State government’s order of compulsorily opening of bank account by the government employees for salary transaction, some members expressed that the process for opening bank account was too slow; therefore, the Board decided that the lead bank officer would be invited to the next DPDB for sorting out the problem. The department of Fisheries and Industrial Training Institute were asked to give departmental activities presentation in the next meeting.
