Social work trainees encouraged to develop compassion in life

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) welcomed its fourth batch of social work trainees during its Fresher’s Day cum inaugural programme on August 2 at NEISSR conference hall, Dimapur.   Nyempo Wallim, SDO Civil, Dimapur, who was the chief guest, exhorted that an individual should exhibit compassion in all their walks of life. Social work as a helping profession should reflect the spirit of compassion and being true to oneself, she stated. Nyempo also highlighted the importance of honesty and hard work which will eventually balance out the other things which may not seem so fair in lives, stated a press release received here.  

Dr. CP Anto too highlighted the need of training more social workers. He shared a dream where NEISSR will produce professionals who do not seek employment but provide employment to the youth of the Naga society. Basing on different statistical findings, he spoke on how social workers can fill the gaps that is seen in what our society ought to have been and what really is.  

Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima meanwhile urged the trainees to live and inculcate the mission and the vision for which NEISSR was started. He called upon them to be agents in restructuring the Naga society based on sustainable development and peaceful coexistence.  

The programme was attended by Governing body members and well wishers of NEISSR.  

The press release mentioned that NEISSR inducted 50 new social work trainees for its present fourth batch. The Fresher’s Day also marked the culmination of a weeklong orientation workshop on topics ranging from Child Rights, organic farming and social entrepreneurship.
