‘Time has come to rise above political affiliations’

The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) today conducted a thanksgiving service at the State Banquet Hall over the victory of Tokheho Yepthomi to Lok Sabha and Sharingain Longkumer to Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio appealed to all PDA alliance partners that the time has come to set aside their differences and rise above political affiliations so that they can come together under a spirit of oneness and work collectively for the betterment of Nagaland.

He hoped that under the present Union Government, India will witness a new era of progress and development and the emergence of a New India.

Rio thanked alliance partners- BJP, JD (U), Independent, NDPP and elected Members from other political parties, former NPP MLAs who had merged with the NDPP and supported them on the principle and ideology of regionalism.

Rio also congratulated the entire machinery that conducted the elections in Nagaland and in the rest of the country. Congratulating Tokheho Yepthomi and Sharingain Longkumer, Rio hoped that they will serve the people with dedication and commitment.

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton congratulated Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, PDA alliance partners for working hard and extending support for the victory of PDA consensus candidate Tokheho Yepthomi and Sharingan Longkumer.

On Tokheho’s victory, Patton was optimistic that the voice of the Naga people would be heard in the Parliament through him.

“We, the BJP Legislators, assure our full cooperation and support to the newly elected MP in his endeavors to work for the interest of our people,” he said.

“With the new BJP led government at the Centre, we the BJP Legislators of the State will continue to shoulder our responsibility and shall render our service and cooperation to work for the interest of the Naga people,” he said.

“Let there be no doubt or confusion in the minds of anybody, the PDA Government is stable and shall complete its term of office under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. No amount of rumors or misgivings can deter our commitment and allegiance to the present PDA Government,” Patton said.

PDA chairman Chingwang Konyak expressed gratitude to the citizens of the state and urged them not to mix politics with religion.

Agriculture and Cooperation Minister G Kaito Aye said that the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has taken the right responsibilities and decision to guide the PDA government and called upon all PDA workers to work together so that Naga people can live together in harmony.

MLA Sharingain Longkumer thanked all the voters as well as the members for supporting and electing him as a member. He also requested the senior members to continue, guide and support him in his endeavor so that he can give his best contribution to the state and serve the people.

MP, Tokheho Yepthomi meanwhile assured to take the responsibility to represent and serve the state in a different capacity as a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha.
