Kick and punch your way to fitness! Just a day before the PAWF Fitness Festival 2017 is scheduled to take off we met fitness gurus Talien Pongentsur and CRT (Talitemjen) to find out more about the event.   The Fitness Festival is geared to show people how to get fit, fast, and strong. It also promises to help in stress relief and lots of fun guaranteed.

Talien is a certified Zumba instructor and a ZIN Member worldwide, while CRT Talitemjen is a Les Mills Body Combat instructor, Certified Choreographer and Chief instructor of Japan Karate Association (Nagaland). One of the few people to organize fitness awareness programmes in Nagaland, the duo shared that two years back they realized that there were no fitness and health related activities happening in town. So they used events like World Health Day to spread the awareness! And this is how Performing Arts with Fitness or PAWF Nagaland Club was formed which is popular for its fitness programmes like Zumba and Les Mills Body Combat. PAWF members are very young kids to many energetic moms and dads.

Workouts with PAWF are always fun with lots of upbeat music and motivational prep talks because as the fitness gurus say, “Fitness is challenging, but not just physically but mentally also. We see a lot of people who join us but give up far too easily.” They also opine that for some people, getting into fitness may be a trend but that they sincerely hope that five years down the line, the fitness industry will grow in Nagaland and people will lead more healthy and fit lifestyles.

The fitness gurus also feel that the fitness industry has a lot of scope in Nagaland. “Even the uneducated youths can learn and train and build a career for themselves. Fitness does not require one to be a graduate. However, it is highly advisable that your train under somebody who is certified and has experience.”

CRT Talitemjen also informed that LesMills Body Combat is one of the first in the Northeast. He explained that it is a high energy with fantastic music martial arts inspired workout that is totally non-contact. It is also supposed to be best mixed martial arts cardio workout in the world. He assures that one does not need any martial arts experience because the moves are uncomplicated and can be learned by everyone.

The Fitness Festival will happen at Tetso Arena, Sovima on April 22 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Pass to this event is Rs 100 per head.
