Training underway for malaria inspectors

Kohima, March 6 (MExN): The National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) conducted one day refresher training for Assistant Malaria Inspectors (AMI), Senior Malaria Inspectors (SMI), Malaria Inspectors (MI), and Surveillance Inspectors (SI) on March 6 at the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Kohima.  

A total of 79 trainees from all the 11 districts will be trained in three batches from March 6 – 8, informed a press release received here.  

Dr. Avino Metha, State Programme Officer, NVBDCP in her keynote address informed the trainees of the launching of Malaria Elimination in the State, while emphasising that in order to achieve the goal, their active participation and hard work was of utmost importance as they are the senior most field workers under the NVBDCP.  

She instructed them to maintain a list of villages under their respective districts and also prepare a list of hard to reach areas, urban slums etc which will aid them in undertaking their supervision activities effectively.  

Meanwhile, the State Programme Officer requested the officers to work in co-ordination with the field workers under them and to supervise malaria blood slides/RDT taken and treatment being provided to patients as well. She also stressed on the importance of sensitising the community on facilities available in the government health units.  

The trainees will be trained on Roles and Responsibility of AMO, SMI, MI and SI, RDK test/Microscopy Quality assurance in malaria diagnosis, treatment /new drug schedule and initiatives, monitoring and supervision format, role of IEC/BCC activities of NVBDCP, recording and reporting formats, the release added.
