WAYO pledges to maintain integrity, dignify life

The Western Angami Youth Organization (WAYO) through its silver jubilee celebration pledge, has made a commitment to tighten its belt for integrity and dignify life.  

It also pledged towards maintaining pleasant behavioral conduct and decent living standards in all sort of dealings. The celebration, held on Saturday at Sechu Zubza, also pledged to desist from taking food lavishly and at the same time maintain civic sense in community feasts.  

Gracing the celebration as the chief guest Nibu Nagi urged upon the youth in particular and the public in general to do away with too much dependence on the government for their livelihood.  

People have every right to have access to proper water supply, electricity, good roads and employment from the government side but the entire populace should not be dependent for their livelihood on government packages, he said.  

Towards this, he urged the people of Western Angami to focus on alternative source of income to withstand their livelihood.  

Lamenting the absence of industry set up in the state, he challenged the people to go for organic farming to boost their economy.  

He viewed that the prospect of Kiwi cultivation stands high in the region following soil fertility and suitable climatic condition and suggested to make Western Angami as "Kiwi Belt".  

Nagi also asked the youth to take every job – big or small, as equally important. Every job sustains the livelihood of each and every individual, he said.  

Social and peace activist, Niketu Iralu in his speech urged upon WAYO to focus on enhancement of primary education in the region. He maintained that positive impact of education will take place as and when there is strong foundation at the primary level.  

In this, he urged WAYO to make a comprehensive case study on primary education and place primary schools in the Western Angami region on top list in Nagaland.  

WAYO president Neidilhoutuo Sechii expressed deep concern over the climate change taking place across the world and challenged the gathering to give a concerted effort towards conservation of forest.  

He said that Western Angamis can also immensely contribute to the world through conservation of forest and adopting an environment friendly attitude.  

He also called for good sanitary practices and civic sense for a healthy and conducive existence.  

Lhuphrevilie Rino, president Western Angami Public Organization (WAPO) and Neinguvotuo Krose, president Angami Youth Organization (AYO) shared greetings.  

Viseto Nagi, the first president of WAYO gave a background on the formation of WAYO.  

Earlier, Keynote address was delivered by steering committee convenor Lhousarovi Paul Rino. The celebration also witnessed cultural extravaganza.
