World Red Cross Day 2018 observed across Nagaland

Nagaland along with the rest of the world today observed World Red Cross Day here under the theme “Everywhere for Everyone, Smile.”  

Speaking on the occasion, Himato Zhimomi, commissioner & secretary for health and family welfare Nagaland urged upon the Nagaland State branch of Indian Red Cross Society to increase the volume of the humanitarian services in the state.  

He also called upon them to play a major role for lasting peace in the society and at the same time to play a lead role in resolving conflict situation in the state. Zhimomi further called upon the state branch to be pro active in mitigating climate change and take a pledge to void the use of plastic.  

He also urged the state branch to be apolitical in their approach and work with dedication and continue to extend humanitarian services to the people in need.  

Zhimomi felt that the rich people should also come forward and contribute towards the Red Cross movement in the state. The function was presided over by Dr. S. Imkong Tushi Ao, vice chairman Indian Red Cross Society Nagaland State Branch while Kekhwewe Sekhamo, member, managing committee IRCSN delivered welcome address. Students of Mt. Sinai Higher Secondary School Kohima and Bayavu Hill High School Kohima presented special numbers.  

The function concluded with vote of thanks proposed by John Kath, member, managing committee IRCSN.
