A DIPR report stated that the Director, Industries & Commerce, A Temjen Jamir, appealed to the young entrepreneurs present to make use of the financial and non-financial support provided by the government and to collaborate and network with each other.

“Incentives provided can reduce the financial burden. Through MSMEs there will be a creation of a supportive ecosystem and foster a sense of belonging,” he stated. Jamir encouraged them to have a mindset on being able to perform their best since competition has become tougher through the years and unless they produce the best quality, there would be no takers in the market.

Jamir expressed that MSMEs empower individuals from diverse backgrounds, including women, youth, and marginalized communities. “They provide opportunities for entrepreneurship, self-employment, and income generation, enabling social and economic inclusion. With adequate support, MSMEs can contribute to poverty reduction and reduce income inequality,” he said.

The Director said that they are critical drivers of economic growth, employment generation, innovation, and inclusive development. Governments, policymakers, and stakeholders should recognize and support the growth of MSMEs through favorable policies, infrastructure development, access to finance, capacity-building programs, and market linkages. By nurturing and empowering MSMEs, countries can enhance their economic landscape and create a conducive environment for entrepreneurship, Jamir added.
