Zeliangrong organizations reaffirm Solidarity Oath

Dimapur, May 4 (MExN): Three Zeliangrong organizations have reaffirmed the Solidarity Oath of the Zeliangrong people.   “The Solidarity Oath which sustains the oneness of the Zeliangrong family will be upheld at all cost in the days to come,” a joint press statement from the Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland), Zeliangrong Youth Front, and All Zeliangrong Students’ Union stated.

The statement from the Zeliangrong organizations comes following the NSCN (IM)’s failure to revoke the “arbitrary and unilateral decision” taken by the Tatar Hoho on March 23 granting separate tribe recognition to Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei. The Zeliangrong bodies had served April 30 as the deadline to revoke the recognition.

In this connection, the three Zeliangrong bodies reminded the NSCN (IM) of the Executive Order of the late President Isak Chishi Swu dated June 30, 2011 issued on the subject “Reorganisation of Administration in Zeliangrong Region” and insisted that the order be upheld.

Among others, the executive order from the late President stated that Zeliangrong Region will remain intact.

However, the three organizations also pointed to Point No. 4 of the order which reads: “There may be three CAOs who will be subject to the Ministry of Kilo Affairs,” and argued that this was done “in view of administrative inconvenience faced by the NSCN/GPRN because of the large and vastness of geographical areas of Zeliangrong people.”

The Zeliangrong organizations termed it unfortunate that such a major issue involving the Naga national constituents, especially the Zeliangrong people, had been taken “hastily and arbitrarily” by the Tatar Hoho, NSCN (IM).

As such, the ZB (AMN), AZSU and the ZYF asserted that Zeliangrong people would continue to uphold the Executive Order of the late President Isak Chishi Swu. “Any imposition or coercion on our identity from within and without will not be acceptable,” it further added.
