Zhaleo Rio campaigns in Viphoma

Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate Zhaleo Rio took his campaign tour to the remotest village of his constituency, Viphoma, which is about 50 km away from Medziphema, on February 17.  

Addressing a packed Panchayat Hall in the village, Zhaleo stated, “Unity is vital to bring about stability and only then, can we see developmental changes today,” informed a press release from Thejangukho Yalietsu, Press Secretary, NDPP 5 Ghaspani-II A/C.  

He requested the people to be united in vision even if different people approach them with equally different principles.  

Zhaleo further affirmed that he and his party is committed to bring about stability and all round development once voted to power under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, who is also the chief ministerial candidate of NDPP.  

He assured the gathering that Naga political issue remains the party's top priority, but reminded that cooperation and coordination from the people is most important for any settlement with wisdom, the release said.  

Meanwhile, the candidate lamented his inability to serve his constituency as envisioned during the past years, “which perhaps was caused by a disgruntled assembly.”  

However, he added, if given the opportunity again, he would emphasize on development of both urban and rural sectors, employment generation, women and children besides basic infrastructure development for the constituency as well as the state.  

Others who spoke at the gathering included Keviyani Thepa, Hollen, Alal Doungel and Khekiho Ayemi. According to the press release, almost all opined that NDPP under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio is set to form the next government. They exhorted that it is up to the voters to decide for themselves as to who can bring about progressive change in the next five years, it added.
